SkiWeekends are one of the UK’s largest providers of short break ski holidays to over 40 resorts across Europe. We were tasked initially to improve their SEO performance, and have since taken over all their digital marketing activity, following season on season performance.

Challenge

novel were tasked initially with a, SEO site migration, to help ensure minimal loss to traffic and rankings before the launch of a new site – with a new URL structure. Following a hugely successful migration, we were then asked to take their SEO to the next level, and not just compete on ‘short break’ ski holiday keywords, but also for the more competitive ski holiday related keywords, taking on the likes of Crystal Ski, Heidi and others, with the aim of getting top rankings.

Solution

Following a keyword review and technical audit, we aimed to make the site quicker, especially for mobile users. We expanded the keyword focus using their resort and accommodation pages, and used the blog to capture long-tail traffic, for those users researching different resorts. In addition, we worked closely with their PR partners to secure links across key press publications, such as The Telegraph, The Independent and the FT.com, to help boost the SkiWeekends.com domain authority.

Results

Between 1st August – 30th April (2023 to 2024), SkiWeekends saw a 41% increase in SEO traffic, and more significantly, a 68% uplift in enquiries from SEO. This follows a year on year increase – even during Covid – of traffic from SEO activities.
